February 2023
On February 26th 2023, Friendship Circle presents Stage For Change, a thought provoking theater experience cultivating understanding of disability inclusion. Children ages 6-11 are invited to join the award winning NYC Kids Project, an interactive educational theater program advocating awareness, acceptance, and respect for people of ALL abilities. Life-sized puppets share stories that encourage children to examine attitudes surrounding disabilities while fostering empathy. Children are invited to engage in exciting hands-on activity stations that support Jewish inclusive values and mindsets.
The February 26th Stage for Change event honored Jewish Disability Awareness Acceptance Month (JDAIM), a unified effort among Jewish organizations worldwide to raise awareness and foster inclusion of people with disabilities and those who love them.
JDAIM is a call to action for all of us as we act in accordance with our Jewish values, honoring the gifts and strengths that we each possess. Established in 2009 by the Jewish Special Educational International Consortium, JDAIM is observed each February. But the truth is, while JDAIM brings the issues of disability inclusion to the forefront, inclusion is something that we must keep focused on the rest of the year.

About Friendship Circle
Based on the bedrock foundation of Judaism, "To love your fellow as you love yourself", Friendship Circle brings together toddlers- young adults with and without special needs for a variety of Judaic and social programming. Together, they enjoy mutually rewarding experiences such as weekly get-togethers, Jewish education and holiday celebrations and creative cooking & fitness programs. Inspired by the magic of genuine friendship, our members cultivate understanding, kindness and responsibility, developing a more inclusive Jewish community for all.
